Girls Gone fishin is a womens fishing tournament held annually on the Daly River, in the Northern Territory. The competition was born out of a desire to get a group of like-minded women together for a weekend of fishing, fun and festivities where they may have not had the chance or confidence to do so before. Along with the festivities and fun, the weekend presents itself as a great opportunity for women to network personally and professionally over two days or three nights.
Launched in 2014, the inaugural GGF weekend was set for the last weekend in May of 2015, with the aim of having a maximum of 15 teams. It wasn't long before word got out around the small town that is Darwin and the maximum of 15 teams quickly grew to a cap of 30 teams. After receiving 36 EOI's for the inaugural competition, invitations went out and we were soon left with 29 teams confirmed and excited to compete in what was set to be an amazing weekend.
As interest in the competition grew, so did the support from local and interstate businesses who ever so kindly agreed to support the competition by way of sponsorship of cash and goods. It was with this support from our amazing sponsors that the weekend was as successful as it was.
Participants of Girls Gone Fishin can expect to meet new people and form amazing new friendships, as well as catching up with old friends alike. They can expect fun, friendliness and, if the fishing gods are good to us, Barramundi!!
Teams can consist of 2 – 4 anglers, with the option of having a dedicated male skipper (who cannot fish - sorry boys!).
