The 2022 Great Northern Brewing Co. Girls Gone Fishin tournament was, without a doubt, the best one yet!

What made it the best? First and foremost, the people who were there! The vibe this year was like nothing I have experienced at any of our events before! The amount of love, friendship and just pure joy that everyone was vibing was epic. So epic. All from the minute people walked into the hall at Banyan Farm for welcome night.

Then there was the fishing, oh lord the fishing this year was what any organiser could dream of. Plentiful, big fish, fat fish, and lots of happy anglers. Casting, trolling, you name it, there were fish caught doing it. My dream this year was to have a metre + fish on the board... my girls (proper proud mum over here) delivered, with a 100cm, 101cm, 106cm 109cm and the big girl, and new record 115cm. Not to forget the few in the 90's as well! Amazing.

As usual, none of the event would be possible without our incredible sponsors, most of whom have been with us since day 1, wayyyy back in 2015 when we fished our first tournament with 29 boats at Dundee Beach. We have come a long way since then, with 51 boats taking to the water and 175 ladies fishing this year. To each and every one of you, past and present, we absolutely LOVE you, and appreciate what you do for us beyond measure.

As I announced on the final night, I went into the event this year having made the decision to step away from the tournament. Life has gotten beyond busy for my little family of 3, and I just couldn't see how I could continue packing everything into my life the way I have been. The past few years have been big in our world, new job, new business, family illness, toddler, studying, renovating, the list goes on. I thought giving up Girls Gone Fishin' was the answer, to give me some more time, more brain space, more energy to put into everything else I do.....

I was wrong, which for those of you who know me, is a very rare occurrence....

What I left Girls Gone Fishin 2022 realising is that this is what I live and breathe for. What I have created in the past 8 years is nothing short of amazing, and this year is the first year I have truly seen it. On the surface, it is a fishing tournament where the most amazing women come and fish hard for 3 days. Under the surface, it is a collection of incredible individuals who come together to create an event that is so full of respect, kindness, fun and friendship, none of which I want to miss out on next year.

So, friends, to cut a long story short, ya girl is here to stay, and so is GGF.

To those who expressed interest in carrying on the name, I am humbled, thank you for reaching out.
